All art classes are one quarter long. Students will be challenged during this time to think like an artist and create powerful, meaningful works. They will hone the following essentials which are the foundation of their art education.
Essential Qualities of an Artist
The following are qualities that students demonstrate and cultivate during all art class:
Fluency- generating ideas through brainstorming
Uniqueness/ Creativity- developing unique, original ideas with personal significance and meaning
Flexibility/ Adaptability- problem solving and the willingness to revise
Effort/ Focus- craftsmanship, aesthetics, and self- satisfaction
Technical Skills and Concepts- applying technique and skills appropriate for different art mediums

Art Classes:
Students learn to self evaluate themselves on the rubric and receive teacher feedback throughout the marking period. Students will earn one of the following scores (as specified on the rubric):
Sec= Secure
Dev=Developing
Beg= Beginning
**All assignments must be completed and turned in to receive a grade, otherwise an E or Incomplete grade will be assigned.
